Travel
to and from Santiago, Chile
Participants
must make their own travel arrangements to and from Santiago. It is recommended
to confirm your return trip on arriving at Santiago in order to ensure
your flight on the date required.

Visas
Visitors
to Chile must have a valid passport and entry visas when required should
be applied for from the consular representative in each country. The information
office for the meeting will provide assistance to participants from countries
that have no consular representative. Countries

Airport
Taxes and Rates
One
must pay a boarding tax of US$ 26 or its equivalent in Chilean pesos for
foreign flights into Chile. For domestic flights, this tax is included
in the airline fare.
Upon arrival in Chile, citizens of the USA, Canada and Australia must
pay a reciprocity tax of approximately $60 in cash in US currency. See

Health requirements
The
International Travel and Health Paper (1997) of the Panamerican Health
Office states that visitors to Chile do not require any vaccinations.
However, visitors are recommended to take out a health insurance to cover
them during their stay.
Insurance
Participants
are advised to arrange their own individual medical, travel and personal
effects insurance while attending the Meetings.
Customs and immigration
Electronic
items such as personal computers, video cameras and others should be declared
when entering the country as "objects of temporary entry".
Normally visitors to Chile have no problems with customs as long as they
are only travelling with personal articles and these do not include the
following items:
Fruits, seeds, vegetables or non-processed products of animal origin.
Firearms, ammunition or explosives.
Illegal drugs
Sanitary controls
Animal
and vegetable products may only enter the country with the due prior authorization
of the agriculture and livestock organization (Servicio Agricola y Ganadero).
